Fabrication and production of assistive devices

Katalemwa Cheshire Home has one of the leading orthopedic workshop that fabricates customized orthopedic devices for children and persons with disabilities. Our talented and passionate orthopedic workshop staff use innovative technology to design, fabricate and fit tailor-made appliances and aids.
A wide number of appliances are produced basically using locally available raw materials and appropriate technology. These include Orthoses (splints/braces) prostheses, mobility aids such as wheel chairs, hand- powered tricycles, walking frames, calipers, crutches, orthopedic shoes/polio boots and special sitting/standing aids like CP chairs, corner sits and standing frames. The workshop also produces other therapeutic equipment such as parallel bars, therapy mirrors and mats. And we annually provide 4,890 assistive devices to both children and persons with disabilities.
